Sydney Trip

I recently got back from Sydney. It wasn't a parkour trip but I was able to get in some training. I was able to meet up with some of the Sydney guys a couple of times.

One day I met up with Richard to train in the city. A couple more of the Sydney guys joined us as well. One guy was Rob, who had more experience than the other guys. It was good to train with Rob as he was closer towards my skill level. Richard was also pretty good, and he’d only been training for six months. It just comes to show how much you can develop when you train with the right people. Paddy was also in Sydney that day, so he came out to train with us for a bit, until he left to go back to Canberra.

It was good to train in Sydney again, because I got to hit up all the spots that we hit up during NatJam 06. We also trained at some more spots that I didn’t know about. I could also see how my skills had developed over the years.

Another day I met up with Djordje and trained at his local spot, Forestville High. It was a real learning experience for me. I was in a new spot doing new things. I was also able to compare my skill level to the others. Tommer and Rob also happened to be training at the school at the same time that we turned up, so I got to train with them.

I learnt that there are a lot of areas that I need to improve on. Abdexterity in my movements, such as be able to perform movements off both legs from both sides, climb ups and upper body strength, especially with muscle ups, are ones to especially note. I will have to get out and work on these areas. Such as going out and drilling movements, drilling climb ups and pull ups especially. I also plan to go out and have sessions where I only train on my bad sides. It will be just like learning all the basic movements again.

I later found that Chippa was also in Sydney for a few of the days that I was there. The only thing was that I only found out after he left. I’ll eventually get to train with him.

Overall my training in Sydney was really good. The best thing was being able to train in a new area, finding new things that pushed my mental limits.

Tomorrow I leave for Melbourne for work purposes. Hopefully I get weekends off and can get into the city. Lets hope for the best.
