Belco Training with Conan

Ive just recently got back from my work trip to Melbourne. Which means that I have been out of training for about a month now.

I went out for some training with Conan today. We hit up belco for a few hours. We started with the usual spots, moving around trying different things together. We tried some really big arm jumps from the bridge onto the painted wall, but were unsuccessful in our attempts. Its was hard enough psyching yourself up to committ to the jump, let alone making it. From there Conan showed me a new arm jump by the side of the lake. It was an arm jump involving a drop, which meant that you had to stick your feet hard into the wall. I was unsuccessful in getting it, but was getting really close. Conan then got me to do rail precisions. I surprisingly got my first decent rail precision. The distance was about a metre and a half. I used to be really scared of doing rail precisions, but I've now found that if I concentrate, I can get it.

Overall it was a good session, especially with the rail precisions. We were really exhausted by the end of the session, which just comes to show that my fitness has dropped a bit over my break. It's time for me to get into some more serious and regular training.

I also talked with Conan about NatJam 08, and how it is going to be held in Canberra. Here is a rough plan that we thought up between us.

Everybody will be staying at the YHA in civic. On the friday afternoon, we will run a basics class in civic. This will hopefully get people to hone their basic skills and prevent injuries before the main event. That night we will have the APA Annual General Meeting, which will hopefully be held at Stage 88, depending on availability. The saturday will be the main event. We will split into four groups. Two groups will go to belco while the other two groups will go to woden. The bus system should be good enough for transport. All the groups will then meet up for lunch in civic. After lunch, the groups will then swap. So the people who went to belco will then go to woden, and vice-versa. The sunday will then be left for people to go off and do their own thing, either continue training or see the sights of canberra, and it will allow for the more experienced traceurs to go off and do their own thing.

Hopefully NatJam 08 will be a success, see what happens.
